Criticisms of Applied Mathematics:-

I am collecting non-mathematical criticisms of the notion that real-world situations can be dealt with ‘as if’ they correspond to some computational model, making use of mathematical methods without considering the broader mathematical theories about the conditions under which the methods may – or may not – be appropriate.

I am starting with the notion (or dogma) that uncertainties ‘in practice’ may be adequately modelled using purely numerical ‘mathematical’ theories of probability.

Further suggestions welcome.
